These are just some of the fabulous things that can be found at Room With A Past this month. Offerings in my space also include an adorable 7-drawer white dresser (it is tall!), some fabulous vintage-look Hawaiian themed decor...and a beautiful garden-window planter. Our specialty is custom celebration favors. Personalized chocloates, water bottle labels and bag tags are just a few of the things that can be designed around a theme for your special event. Recent designs include:

TEN adorable kittens made their way on to chocolate 'coins', a gift for a gal that does alot of work for SPCA. The picture is of her own kitties, all with the most amazing blue eyes!

And a baby shower with a "Baby Rain Forest" theme as a gift for a friend:

May Garden Party

Welcome! It is a beautiful, sunny day in the Bay Area, it is so nice to have you stop by.

I'm celebrating Spring at Southern Hospitality's May Garden Party. Please take a few minutes to stop by her blog and visit the other fabulous gardens that are celebrating May with us today!

Our backyard is our happy spot. We love spending time tending the flowers, plants and new veggie garden. We watch birds and butterflies, play in the sprinklers and just hang out. Spring rains have freshened everything and colorful flowers are popping up all over!

In the playground garden we have Red sage, purple pellageroniums and onions that will bloom in early summer...

And the ivy geraniums are gorgeous! They come back every year bigger and brighter than the year before. Some even bloom all year...and that is a welcome sight in the winter!

Yellow iris glow in the warm sunshine...

Look at the glorious colors of this "Josephs Amazing Dreamcoat" rose. The flowers actually change colors as they age, and they are yummy!

We love 'yard art', our favorite sign reads, "Plant Smiles, Grow Giggles, Harvest Love", cute eh?!

I wish...well I don't think I could wish - for a more colorful wishing well! Last I counted there are about 15 flowering plants around and in it!

This is the view from my kitchen window. It overlooks my potting shed. It is a cheerful sight to see! The door is from MIL's property in Napa, the window box is waiting for spring flowers, the lights that sparkle at night, and a lattice patio roof all give it fresh cottage charm.

The wheelbarrel reminds me...now that the rains are gone, it is time to get back to gardening! Behind it is a garden that needs some attention...and today is the perfect day to work in it.

Betsy McCall Tag Along With Elizabeth and Friends

Elizabeth at Creative Breathing inspired Sandy at 521 Lake Street, myself and I’m sure many other gals that loved Betsy McCall to visit to The Blue Door   to find out what ‘our’ Betsy looked like, and take a month-by-month walk through our childhoods as we fondly remember the girl that came to our home every month.

I loved Betsy McCall when I was young!  McCalls Magazine had a page for her every month with a new story and new clothes…paper doll style.  I adored paper dolls!  Still do.   This is Betsy the month I was born…

I love her wardrobe!   And she looks a little like me in 4th grade.  I remember loving a red dress I had that was similar to the blue one at the top.  And I had my hair cut that year to about the same style.  And she has a small doggie, mine was named Missy! 

I have such fond memories of Betsy…and I’m sure her ever-expanding wardrobe of cute dresses (we couldn’t wear ‘pants’ to school until 6th grade!) inspired me to pursue my passion of sewing…I love to sew and spent years making my own clothes. 

Looking back at the Blue Door,  Betsy was quite stylish and trendy too, I’m sure.  Thanks Elizabeth (and your Flickr friend that inspired you!) for inspiring us to take a look back at Betsy!

I'm a Country Traditional kind of gal!

I found this website through The Shabby Nest...I love interior design and am partial to Country/Cottage, chippy and painted furniture, lots of color and love curtains. This look really does it for me:

While the colors are not quite mine (my pallette is more reds, greens and beiges), and there isn't any chippy furniture in sight (I'm sure it is just out of the photo!), the big, comfy furniture, lots of pillows, curtains (toile!) and bamboo shades, among other things, are definately me.

Sproost says about Country Traditional, "You love spaces that feel casual and lived in. Furniture is practical and comfortable. It's a Blue Thursday!

It's that time again! Room With A Past is open for our once-a-month sale this weekend, and you won't believe your cottage-loving eyes! We've added more space, which means more fabulous finds for you. Spring is everywhere, and the girls have lots of garden decor, home furnishings and other decorating delights for your shopping pleasure!

A few treats for a friend who collects rabbits! She was having her grand daughters over for Easter so I sent them some treats for their Egg Hunt, they loved them!
